Read-A-Thon

After learning about Bibliotech Th'uruchapitas in Bolivia, and Hope House in Washington, D.C., how do you feel about supporting these organizations through the Read-A-Thon? Do you feel more motivated to read, and get sponsors? Why?

  1. I really didn't know how terrible things were in these places and now I feel even more excited to read lots of books. I am going to try to get lots of money for the kids and the dads in prison.

    1. Ocean girl I agree with you because I didn't know that these places were so terrible either. Just like you I am excited to read more books and get lots of money for them.

  2. I think that everyone should have a chance to learn how to read. Since everybody is equal, if I have a chance to learn different things, children should in Bolivia too. After learning about all those unfortunate kids who can't learn things, I am determined to read even more and raise even more money.

  9. I feel that after learning more about these organizatations, I want to support them more. I definitely want to read more because I now know what I am doing by reading. In D.C., I really want those kids to see their fathers more often. In Bolivia, they should definitely get more books.

  14. Before learning about this, I didn't know it was so bad in these places. I thought that I would give just flat donations but now I am going to ask for amounts per book and read a lot to raise some money. Learning about D.C. and Bolivia makes me want to donate money to children's reading and education.

  20. Knowing that Bolivia is so poor and the hope house, I'm going to convince my mom to get more people to donate so the hope house and Bolivia have enough money.

  21. I didn't know that they were so poor in these places. I mean thinking of Washington DC I was surprised. As for Bolivia they only have one library. I thought it was unfair that we have hundreds of libraries and are able to read, but they only have one library. Also in Washington DC a lot of the kids' dads are in jail, so the kids get to see them only once a year. If I were one of those kids I would really miss my dad.

  26. I agree with disneyfan because it really would feel good to get to give kids more time with their dads. For the library in Bolivia, I feel really bad for these kids because a lot of them are not able to read.

  27. After seeing the video of the hope house, I got more motivated to donate to the Hope House because I can imagine seeing my dad for the very first time or seeing him for the second time in my life.

  28. I feel different about Helping Hope House because my dad leaves alot and when he is home he is usually working. I really miss him. So I'm assuming that if you never see your dad it must be really really really hard.
